Paddle through paradise on a thrilling 2 – Day adventure on the Orange river! This fully catered and guided rafting trip takes you above the majestic Augrabies Falls, where towering cliffs hug the emerald waters.
The late afternoon sun paints the towering cliffs of the Augrabies Falls Gorge in warm hues as you settle into your raft. The mighty Orange River below flows with a gentle calmness, a stark contrast to the thundering waterfall upstream. Your experienced guide shows you the way through the glassy water, the sound of the current your only companion.
Towering sandstone cliffs line the banks, their layered formations etched with the stories of time. A majestic fish Eagle soars overhead, its piercing cry echoing through the canyon. Lush pockets of vegetation cling to the crevices, offering vibrant splashes of color against the arid landscape.
As the sun dips below the horizon, the sky explodes in a riot of fiery Oranges, pinks and purples. The air cools slightly, carrying the sweet scent of desert wildflowers Your guides set up camp on a secluded riverside beach, a haven of golden sand and smooth pebbles.
Under a canopy of stars so vast it takes your breath away, a communal fire crackles to life. The rhythmic whoosh of the rivers edge serves as a natural lullaby. You gather around the fire, sharing stories and laughter, the warmth radiating outwards, chasing away the desert chill.
A delicious meal, prepared with fresh local ingredients, is enjoyed under the starlit sky. As the fire dwindles to embers, you retreat to your comfortable bed, the gentle murmur of the river your constant companion. Drifting off to sleep, you know this will be an experience etched in your memory forever.
The following morning the sun paints the scene with a golden glow. After a leisurly breakfast enjoyed on the riverside, you reembark on the raft, the river now sparkling with morning light. You navigate through a few playful rapids , adding a touch of excitement to your serene journey.
The day unfolds with a relaxed pace, allowing you to soak in the breathtaking scenery and tranquility of the river. By afternoon, you reach the take out point, your heart filled with the memories of a truly unforgettable overnight rafting adventure
Itinerary:
DAY 1:
- 13:30 - 14:00 Gear up at African Tours And Adventures easily found on google maps located in Augrabies town at the Quiver tree Guesthouse 10km from the Augrabies Falls National Park gates, from here we embark on our rafting journey. Navigating gentle rapids and soaking in the breathtaking scenery.
- Arrive at your riverside campsite, greeted by a crackling fire and some ice cold drinks. Generally everyone sleeps under the stars but a tent can be brought along incase of rain.
- Savor a delicious, Cook prepared dinner under a blanket of stars, sharing stories with your fellow adventurers.
DAY 2:
- Start your day with an early Coffee & Poaches Egg B-Fast.
- Conquer the heart-pounding Augrabies rush Rush, tackling exciting class 2 and 3 rapids with your expert guide.
- Witness the awe-inspiring Augrabies Falls from a unique perspective - a memory etched forever.
- Trips ends around 11:00 at the Augrabies Falls NP - Park Fees included in the price.
