Half – Day Rafting trip Itinerary:
Morning:
- 08:30 Participants arrive at the designated meeting point – African Tours and Adventures – Based at The Quiver tree Guesthouse in the town of Augrabies only 10km from the Park gates.
- Welcome and registration: Meet your fellow adventurers and the qualified rafting guides. This is where you will complete any necessary paperwork and waivers.
- Safety Briefing: Your rafting guides will provide a comprehensive safetybriefing, covering paddling techniques, river safety protocols and what to do in case of emergencies. They will also familiarize you with the route and rapids you’ll encounter.
- Gear Distribution & Fitting: Life jackets, helmets, paddles, and any other necessary safety equipment will be distributed and ensured they fit properly.
Mid – Morning:
- 09:30 Transfer to launch site: Transportation will be provided to the starting point on the Orange River.
- Land Practice: Once riverside, the guides might have you practice basic paddle strokes and maneuvering techniques on land before hitting the water.
Late Morning/Early Afternoon:
- The rafting trip begins: It’s time for the adventure to begin! Board your raft and set off down the Orange River.
- Navigating the rapids: Over the next few hours, you’ll tackle the exciting Grade 1 and 2 rapids. Your Guides will navigate the route, instruct you through each rapid, and ensure a thrilling and safe experience.
- Scenic Breaks & Wildlife Spotting: In between the rapids, enjoy the breathtaking scenery of Augrabies Falls National Park. Keep and eye out for diverse birdlife and unique wildlife along the riverbanks.
Afternoon:
- Lunch/Drinks Break: A stop will Likely be made for a riverside picnic lunch with refreshments and snacks to energize you for the remaining journey.
- Conquering More Rapids: After lunch/Drinks continue down the river, tackling more exciting rapids until you reach the take-out point.
Late Afternoon:
- River Exit and transfer back: Safely disembark from the rafts at the designated take-out point. Transportation will be waiting to return you to the meeting point or starting location.
- Wrap Up & Farewell: Change out of your wet gear and share your exhilarating experience with your fellow rafters. This might be where you can purchase photos or memorabilia from your trip.
